Astro Sponsors Passive House Project
The requirement for eco-friendly architecture continues to increase, with pressure on Architects and Designers to consider resourceful and innovative ways in which to create environmentally friendly buildings.
With this in mind, Professor Stefano Piraccini and Architect Margherita Potent created a unique 'Passive House', with Astro chosen as the main lighting sponsor. The 'Passive House' is a distinct design which is completely energy efficient and showcases an innovative approach to sustainable architectural design. Producing zero emissions and with no energy consumption, the house has been constructed to create shade in the Summer months and warm internal spaces in the Winter.
Astro lights feature throughout the project, both internally and externally. A variety of lighting designs feature within bedroom spaces, including Atelier wall and floor luminaires, Edge Reader wall lights and Ascoli spot lights. Eclipse plaster lights illuminate the hallways, while in the open plan kitchen and living area, Enna Floor lamps in a minimalist matt white finish provide useful directional illumination for relaxing on the sofa, and Ginestra pendants break up the space by hanging directly over the dining table.
Outside of the house, Jura and Cabin luminaires in a robust antique brass finish add a touch of industrial-inspired design, effectively illuminating the garden and driveway areas.
The 'Passive House' by Piraccini is a fantastic example of how contemporary architectural design can be completely sustainable, and Astro was delighted to be involved with the project.
