We are delighted to have chosen Streets2Homes as our charity of the year for 2017. Streets2Homes supports homeless individuals and those that are at risk of becoming homeless in and around the local area, by providing anything from hot meals, to CV advice, to housing support. We have a fantastic team in place from all areas of the business who are busy organising fundraising activities and events that will take place throughout the year.
We have partnered with creative hub Parndon Mill in order to display some of the beautiful art works created by local, talented artists. Combined with this, we support the Harlow Gibberd Gallery with their Arts Means Business initiative and exhibitions, that help to promote the link between business and arts in the community.
As part of Design Week Mexico 2016, we worked alongside our Mexican distributor Diez Company and 22 internationally renowned artists to transform the Astro Eclipse wall light into works of art, using the concept of freedom as inspiration. The art works were later sold at a silent auction raising over $25,000 for the charity Las Mujeres Cautivas and their work in rehabilitating female prisoners in Mexico. You can view the final lights and read more about the artists involved here.
At Astro we understand the importance of development and progression. With this in mind we are working with local sixth form Knights Templar, to provide students with guidance on their A-Level lighting projects, as well as more recently advising product design students at Sheffield Hallam University on their final year portfolios.
